Weekly Theme: Pointed

As this is our Independence day, I chose
the American flag given to me at the
funeral of my late husband in 1994.
He served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam
in 1967-1968. The stars are obviously, pointed.

This is just for fun...the Beatles (1965)
point out that it is pointless to not
enjoy life and be a little silly now and then.

The folded flag reminded me of the passing of both my father-in-law and my best friend's father this year (my father-in-law served in the Marines during WWII and my best friend's father was an Air Force pilot during Korea). They died only a few months apart. Both received an honor guard at their respective funerals. Each was extremely moving.

I've got my PhotoHunt entry up at http://www.anniemayhem.com/cgi-bin/wordpress/ in case you're interested. If you do visit, please leave a comment and feel free to explore the rest of my little blog.

Oh I love the Beatles. And that is true, enjoy life. All we need is love....like what it says from one of their songs.

A more formal choice and a fun choice of pics for the theme! Great balance!

Hope you had a happy Independence Day. Nice picture of the stars but I like the other picture more even though you placed it for the fun of it.

Point well taken and sorry for your loss in the past. I pray constantly for all the military who fight for our country. Have a wonderful weekend. Great post.

The stars of our flag. Just in time for Forth of July. We have so much to be thankful for the people(like your husband) who have served and are still serving for us to enjoy our freedom.

Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Beautiful picture of your late husband's flag. I tend to get a little choked up when I see one in a case with the nameplate. It's too late for me to say 'thank you' to him, but I sure hope someone did.

Mine is here.
