Genocide No More
Darfur is a region in west Sudan that has been experiencing genocide since 2003, with a death toll topping 450,000. More than 2.5 million people are being driven from their homes.
When high school students in Redding learn about this they recognized the horror of it and decided to take action. They formed a group called “Genocide No More -- Save Darfur”. For the last few years they have been finding ways to raise money and help out.
This year, I again attended a benefit concert, they and others organized. It featured the Enterprise High School Jazz band, the University preparatory School Jazz Band, the Shasta High School Madrigals, and a “Genocide No More”, member, Greg Lawson, who performed his original songs for Darfur.
Below are photos from that evening. I hope they make you think again about what is happening in Darfur.
