sweet memories

Today Would Have Been My 37th Anniversary

We were married January 29th, 1972.

It was "love at first sight". We were so crazy in love. At about 5 months we had moved in together and by 6 months we were engaged. By the end of the year and a month, we were married. He was 25 and I was 23. We had a beautiful life (of course, normal ups and downs), but we were always deeply in love. Two amazing children came along. We both worked as teachers, the careers we wanted. We were living in a lovely home, when at 48 he was diagnosis with terminal pancreatic cancer. The world as we knew crashed down around us. That was 14 years ago. Today I wear our rings on a chain around my neck, take flowers to his grave, shed a few tears, but mostly I remember the incredible guy I married and how lucky I am to have so many precious memories.

thought of the day: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Dr. Seuss

I live in a block of flats owned by retired people. Some get quite upset about losing their life-time partner some time back, but I always say that they are so lucky to have the memories.

What a nice picture. He looks a little like Ron Howard (with hair) and you look like a very happy bride.

The memories are to be cherished... sounds trite but what can I say in the face of such sadness.

What would we do without memories to cherish. Cancer is such a fierce foe. I'm sorry your husband lost his battle but I'm glad you had a wonderful marriage.

What a lovely remembrance of him! I am so sorry your time together was cut so short.
